I'm feeling so happy right now.
Tonight, I was helping K dry off from his shower when he looked up at me and said:
K: I'm glad who I am.
Me: Awe baby, I'm glad to hear that.
K: I'm smart, kind, and important.
Me: ( I felt the tears coming) That's right baby!
K : I'm K _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ( He said his full name, and with so much pride)!
Me: ( crying) I'm so proud of you honey!
K: Are you crying ? Why are you crying?
Me: Because I'm so proud of you.

Sick Days
K was sick two days this week:
Poor little guy.
It's Saturday and he's not allowed to go swimming because he still
has a little cough. He's not happy about not going swimming.
We still BBQ
K usually swims while Daddy BBQ.
Cuddle Credit Cards
I came home from the grocery store to find out that K had made some cuddle credit cards. He made two. One for Daddy and one for himself. These were created so they can be used when ever someone wants to cuddle:
Super cute idea honey!

Books we read 8/22 - 8/26
Grandma got K a bunch of new books. The day he received them, he asked to use the constellation map that he knew came inside the book about the night sky. So, naturally that was the first book he wanted to read this week. I told him we could read a couple pages a night because it is a rather long book. He continued to ask questions all week about how to use the constellation map.
Here are the books we read this week:

Great Advice! For After School Attitude
Wow, just read a great post from a previous teacher/ stay at home mom. I'm going to make a blog post about her blog post because I believe her advice is very good!
I read this blog post on a blog named : Still Playing School
The name of this post is: The After School Attitude, Why is my Child Acting out at home?
http://www.stillplayingschool.com/2014/08/after-school-behavior.html
Everyday after I pick up K from school, I ask him how his day went?
Was it good, bad, did he eat lunch with his friends? Did he do math, flashcards, etc? What did he learn that day? I've noticed that he does not ever answer me when I ask right after I pick him up. I tried to make the questions more specific, because I thought he was too tired to go into detail. He doesn't ever want to talk about school right after I pick him up, and he almost always asks me if we can go home and go swimming. It sometimes escalates into an argument.....because I push him for answers. Later in the evening, usually when we are reading right before bed, he will start telling me details about his day. He will start remember specific details of the day that he wants to share with me. This has been a concern of mine. After reading this post, I know how I would like to handle this differently. I'm so glad I read this, and am looking forward to reading more of her blog!

K read his first sentence!!!
K read his first sentence this week. All by himself!
I'm so proud of my little man!
His teacher sends home homework every night.
Sometimes she sends home small paper story books, that she has asked us to read at home.
I pulled K's out of his back pack, and he mentioned he had read it at school with his teacher.
The story book had several of his site words in it.
He was able to read one page....one sentence all on his own!
He read the sentence : I can see!

Great Great Grandma Vera's Fuchsia
Grandma & Grandpa C both have a green thumb.
Great Grandma C received a Fuchsia plant from her mother in law several years ago, who was K's Great Great Grandma Vera. ( Great Grandpa's mother) Great Grandma kept it alive in her garden. When Great Grandma & Grandpa decided to sell their home, Grandma C decided to pull some pieces off that Fuchsia and see if she could get it to grow, in hopes that the beautiful fuchsia could stay in the family.
She was successful:

This beautiful fuchsia plant has been in our family for decades now.
And K can go see it over at Grandma & Grandpa's home.
This week's books 8/15- 8/19
Here are the books we read this week:
We read 3 special books this week. The top right is K's baby book which includes letters I wrote to him while I was pregnant with him. The bottom left is a book from Grandma C. Which she gave to K on the night he was born. And it's called, On the night you were born. The top left, is his picture book from his first year. The three books have been put away in a safe place for K to have when he gets older. I just brought them out so he knows that we have them for him.
This book is very special. It was given to K from his grandmother on the night he was born.
She had everyone who was involved in helping bring him into the world safely sign it.
This book has been put away in a safe spot with his baby book
until K gets older.
We went to visit with Grandma C yesterday, and she had picked up a bunch of new books
for K! So, that meant it was time to clean up the book shelves and organize them.
All the books that K is currently reading are on the shelves. All the holiday books are in a pile to the left....which I will pull back out when that times comes. He is so excited about his new books, which we will start this week!

C's Birthday Party
K had a blast at C's Birthday Party this weekend!
K and C went to preschool together.
They played flag football together.
And we run into C around town sometimes.
Unfortunately, they no longer see each other everyday since they go to different school's now.
But, when they do get the opportunity to see each other it's as if no time has passed at all:

Action Shot!
Double Action Shot!
Another Action Shot....
The water gun fights at this pool party went on forever.....
These boys are going to sleep so good tonight!
Happy Birthday C!
We had a blast!
Purple
K came home from school with some awesome news this week!
His teacher keeps a behavior chart in her classroom.
The behavior chart has several different colors on it.
Each child has a clip with his/her name on it.
If the child displays good behavior during the day, the teacher moves the clip up a color.
If the child displays bad behavior, the teacher moves the clip down a color.
The highest color on the color chart is purple, and if the student's clip
lands on purple they get their choice of a pencil or piece of candy.
K came home with some awesome news.
He was the first student in his class to land on purple.
He received his treat, and choose a piece of candy.
He was very excited to tell us all about it.

The moment you realize your 5 year old has just dialed your boss's home phone # on your cell at 8pm
Bu Bump Bu Bump Bu Bump....my heart feels like it's going to jump out of my chest.
Tonight I was looking at Pinterest on my computer, while K was playing with some picture apps on my phone. We were both sitting on the couch relaxing, and enjoying ourselves around 8pm.
When I hear Siri " Dialing T_ _ _ _ K _ _ _ _ _ home"!
T _ _ _ _ K _ _ _ _ _ is my boss!
I jumped off the couch!
K Nooooooooooooo!
He went from making funny faces on picture apps to calling my boss at home!
Lol, well I'm wide awake now!

Back to School Night
Daddy and I went to " Back to School Night" tonight.
I'm very impressed with how organized K's school is.
His teacher is wonderful too!
I asked her several questions tonight before and after the meeting.
She welcomed my questions, and took her time answering them.
I'm looking forward to, and excited about so many things for K!!!
The back to school night was for all the kindergarten classes at one time, we all met in the multipurpose room. The teachers explained the curriculum they will be teaching, and how they plan on teaching it. They explained to us how we can help at home. They explained what to expect from our kindergartener this year. They provided a folder of paperwork to help us at home understand what will be going on in the classroom. They told us about projects that are coming up, field trips, and special events.
I'm so excited! I'm so excited for K! I really believe he is going to enjoy this school!
It's time to learn! Use our imagination! Make fun memories! And make new friends!
Bring it on Elementary school! We are READY!

This week we read the following books:
Each night this past week I read K a different book.
But, each book needed to be followed by StellaLuna.
StellaLuna is K's favorite book right now.
One night K grabbed StellaLuna and told me he would read it to me.
He turned the pages and was able to remember what happened
on each page. He loves this book!
I love reading with you honey!

First Day of Kindergarten Class of 2029
Today K started Kindergarten!
He was so calm.
He was so excited!
He was so calm.
He was so excited!
First Day!!!
Standing in line for his class at the end of recess.
Both Daddy and I took the day off work to drop K off and pick him up on his first day of kindergarten. We asked him how his day went after we picked him up.
He said it went good. He got a sticker for being kind to others. He practiced writing numbers. He said that his teacher did help him get his drink open. He made a new friend. When we dropped him off, the early birds were coming out for recess. So, he got to join them and play on the playground. Which is where he saw some buddies from preschool. Including Aubrie, who chased him around the playground a couple times. He loved it! He also told me he saw Brody, Brooks, and Chloe at lunch time who are more buddies from preschool. It sounds like it went really well for him.
Today K had another first.
K swam all the way across the length of the pool by himself.
My little man is growing up too fast.
We are so proud of you honey!
So proud!
