Today is a very sad day for our family. We are saying good-bye to a very SPECIAL woman. We are saying good-bye to my son's Great Grandmother.
Son...you are only 4 years old right now....but you shared a very special bond with your Great Grandma. She loved you very much. The funeral is taking place in Utah, and your father thought you are still too young to attend a funeral. So, he went to say good-bye for all of us.
As you grow up you are going to hear stories about your wonderful Great Grandma Myrt. Stories about the family cabin in Utah, stories about the house she grew up in, stories about her children Grandpa Wright & Aunt Mada , stories about Thanksgiving dinners, stories about family adventures and fun times.
Today, I want to tell you about who your Great Grandma Myrt was. Your Great Grandmother had a pure heart full of love. She held you when you were three months old and sang to you as you fell asleep in her arms. Your bond was instant. The most important thing to her was family. If you had the privilege of being in the same room with her, she would speak to you as if you were the only person in the room. She loved each and every member of her family, and made sure you felt it. She is no longer physically on this earth....but she is not gone. She is still here watching over you. Helping guide you.....helping remind you...that you are loved. Where is she? She is the kisses you will feel on your cheek when you walk through the wind.
We miss you Great Grandma Myrt. XOXO

Horrible Loss
Today I received some horrible news.
My sister text me some pictures that brought tears to my eyes.
A building that represents my childhood summer vacations caught on fire last night.
What once looked like this:

After last night's fire, the store looks like this:
This was the store inside the private club where my family owns a summer cabin. My parents took us to this club every summer while we were growing up. I have so many wonderful memories here. Luckily no one was hurt by this fire. So sad. My heart is hurting tonight.

It's because I eat my pasta salad!
I walked passed K tonight, and noticed that his legs looked very long. Maybe it was just the way he was sitting, maybe it was because I stood up quickly...but they looked very long.
I told him that I noticed a growth spurt, and it wouldn't be long until he is bigger than Daddy. He told me, " It's because I eat my pasta salad!".

" I want some crab, Mama!"
Last week, I was driving K to preschool when I looked back in my rear view mirror and saw his face.
His face was expressionless. I asked him if he was tired. He said, " I want some crab Mama! I want to go to a sit down dinner and eat crab, and I want to drive far to get there." It was so cute.
Daddy and I decided that K had a great idea. We took him to Red Lobster Friday night. Which is where he got his crab dinner:

Lobster!
Nemo is in the fish tank!
He had a virgin Bahama Mama.
He loved it!
He got his crab!
Daddy cracked all of K's crab....and could barely keep up with how fast he was eating it.
Dun Dun....the crab is going to get you....
He wanted to crack his own crab so bad, but Daddy and I were too scared he could get hurt.
Yummy!!
Great idea K!!

Jumping off the Dresser
I was walking past K's room this past Sunday, when I caught some movement out of the corner of my eye. When I took a second look, it was K. He was getting ready to jump off his dresser onto his bed!!! His dresser is taller than he is. He had to climb up the drawers in order to get on top of his dresser. Ugh...it felt like time stood still. I was shocked. What if I had not walked by? What if he had jumped and got hurt? Has he done this before? And if he has, how many times has he done this? Where the heck was I when he thought about doing this? What other dangerous things has he done that I'm not aware of? I told him never to do it again, and explained why. I told him that I had to tell his father, and of course he did not like that. But, I'm concerned about his safety so I knew I needed to make his dad aware. K is fearless. My mind was going crazy and all I could think of was the trampoline he had been on 2 weeks prior. He was doing flips off it into some foam blocks. My fear was it is just a matter of time before he feels the urge to try to do a flip of his dresser.....ugh...
What was the conclusion to this situation. I moved the dresser across the room....and every time K has some time alone in his room the first image that will probably go through my mind for the next couple YEARS will be of him jumping off his dresser....

Salad for Dinner
Right now one of K's favorite things to eat is salad. He LOVES chicken and avocado salad with a sprinkle of sunflower seeds. And that's exactly what we had for dinner tonight:
We both gobbled it all up.

Cousins
K's cousin B was in town for a week. We got to go out to breakfast with him yesterday morning. It's so nice to see all three boys together. We were missing Cody & Hannah, but hopefully we will get to see them soon. The boys had a blast:
Cousin Love.
