Cuddle Credit Cards

I came home from the grocery store to find out that K had made some cuddle credit cards. He made two. One for Daddy and one for himself. These were created so they can be used when ever someone wants to cuddle:

Super cute idea honey!

Even when no one is looking

Books we read 8/22 - 8/26

Grandma got K a bunch of new books. The day he received them, he asked to use the constellation map that he knew came inside the book about the night sky. So, naturally that was the first book he wanted to read this week. I told him we could read a couple pages a night because it is a rather long book. He continued to ask questions all week about how to use the constellation map.

Here are the books we read this week:

Reading with K is my favorite part of the day.

Great Advice! For After School Attitude

Wow, just read a great post from a previous teacher/ stay at home mom. I'm going to make a blog post about her blog post because I believe her advice is very good!

I read this blog post on a blog named : Still Playing School
The name of this post is: The After School Attitude, Why is my Child Acting out at home?
http://www.stillplayingschool.com/2014/08/after-school-behavior.html

Everyday after I pick up K from school, I ask him how his day went?
Was it good, bad, did he eat lunch with his friends? Did he do math, flashcards, etc? What did he learn that day? I've noticed that he does not ever answer me when I ask right after I pick him up. I tried to make the questions more specific, because I thought he was too tired to go into detail. He doesn't ever want to talk about school right after I pick him up, and he almost always asks me if we can go home and go swimming. It sometimes escalates into an argument.....because I push him for answers. Later in the evening, usually when we are reading right before bed, he will start telling me details about his day. He will start remember specific details of the day that he wants to share with me. This has been a concern of mine. After reading this post, I know how I would like to handle this differently. I'm so glad I read this, and am looking forward to reading more of her blog!

K read his first sentence!!!

K read his first sentence this week. All by himself!
I'm so proud of my little man!
His teacher sends home homework every night.
Sometimes she sends home small paper story books, that she has asked us to read at home.
I pulled K's out of his back pack, and he mentioned he had read it at school with his teacher.
The story book had several of his site words in it.
He was able to read one page....one sentence all on his own!
He read the sentence : I can see!

So proud of you sweetheart!

Great Great Grandma Vera's Fuchsia

Grandma & Grandpa C both have a green thumb.
Great Grandma C received a Fuchsia plant from her mother in law several years ago, who was K's Great Great Grandma Vera. ( Great Grandpa's mother) Great Grandma kept it alive in her garden. When Great Grandma & Grandpa decided to sell their home, Grandma C decided to pull some pieces off that Fuchsia and see if she could get it to grow, in hopes that the beautiful fuchsia could stay in the family.

She was successful:

This beautiful fuchsia plant has been in our family for decades now.
And K can go see it over at Grandma & Grandpa's home.

This week's books 8/15- 8/19

Here are the books we read this week:

We read 3 special books this week. The top right is K's baby book which includes letters I wrote to him while I was pregnant with him. The bottom left is a book from Grandma C. Which she gave to K on the night he was born. And it's called, On the night you were born. The top left, is his picture book from his first year.  The three books have been put away in a safe place for K to have when he gets older. I just brought them out so he knows that we have them for him.

This book is very special. It was given to K from his grandmother on the night he was born.
She had everyone who was involved in helping bring him into the world safely sign it.

This book has been put away in a safe spot with his baby book
until K gets older.

We went to visit with Grandma C yesterday, and she had picked up a bunch of new books
for K! So, that meant it was time to clean up the book shelves and organize them.
All the books that K is currently reading are on the shelves. All the holiday books are in a pile to the left....which I will pull back out when that times comes. He is so excited about his new books, which we will  start this week!
