Pizza Night at Preschool

K's preschool offers a pizza night once a month. It's a chance for parents to go out on a date night, and leave their child at the preschool for a 3 hour pizza party, ice cream and movie! We received a free coupon for a pizza night when we registered K for preschool. We've also been given another coupon for a free pizza night as a thank you from the school. Last Friday when I was picking up K from school, K and his buddy Mathew asked me if it was okay for K to go to pizza night that evening. K had mentioned that he wanted to go to a pizza night before, but I was cautious about letting him go because they only allow a limited amount of kids to sign up for each pizza night & I didn't know if K's buddies would be attending the same one K was? Both K & Mathew were very insistent on K attending last Friday's pizza party...so I walked over to the sign up sheet to see if there was any room left on the sheet. K's teacher told me they had one child cancel, so there was room for K to attend if he wanted to. I asked him again if he really wanted to go, and he said yes! I signed him up. I took him home and hydrated him. I packed his pajamas. We went pass the grocery store to pick him & Mathew up some goodies. Daddy came home from work, and we drove K over to pizza night. K ran out to the back play area to make sure Mathew was there ( which he was) and then came right back in and started to cry. He didn't understand that we would be back in a couple hours. He thought he had to sleep at school. We told him he didn't have to stay if he didn't want to. His teacher was there and she started to explain to him all the fun things he was going to get to do. Pizza, ice cream, playing outside in the evening, pajamas, and a movie. K stopped crying and told us he wanted to stay.
We left slowly...with our stomach in knots...my husband and I always look forward to the weekends because we get to spend time with K.....and this was the first time he wanted to go do his own thing...his own thing that didn't include us....
My husband and I went out to dinner. I had a mimosa! I haven't had a drink out in a long time! We had a nice time, but I must admit when you are thinking of your child and miss your child...it seems like all you see is babies everywhere! There were several babies in the restaurant we went to....
After dinner we went to go pick up K. We walked in and he was already changed into his pajamas and sitting on his sleeping bag watching a movie with his buddy Mathew. He saw us and walked over. He told us he didn't want to leave yet, and asked if he could stay longer! Ugh...his teacher said we should go ahead and go get ice cream, and enjoy our time alone. We went home for another hour and then went back to get him. Other parents were starting to show up to pick up their kids. Kale looked so tired, but definitely had a blast. He asked when the next pizza night was and talked about pizza night all weekend! I wish I could keep him this age forever.

Daddy's Broken

Tonight Daddy asked K what movie he would like to watch. K couldn't remember the name of the movie he was thinking of, so he described the actors & their characters...and said, you remember...don't you Daddy? ( Daddy didn't remember) K began to describe scenes from the movie, and again asked Daddy if he remembered? ( Daddy didn't remember) K turned to me and said, Daddy's broken. Daddy needs batteries...

Learning about the drought at preschool

K learned about the drought at preschool last week.

It was Ugly Hat Day at school Friday.
Unfortunately, I missed that memo.
The teachers improvised for the kids that didn't bring hats with this picture!
Lol! I love my little man!

Weekend shenanigans

Last weekend Daddy & K played a little football in the living room....

And K practiced his boxing skills....

A new park

Last weekend I took K to a new park. There is a large rock climbing structure there so he loved it!!!

He was able to climb to the top & get down all by himself!

" I'll be your Super Hero Ava "

When I picked up K from preschool today his teacher told me she would like to tell me something. She asked K to go get his lunch box, so he did not hear our conversation. My heart started beating so fast.....what did she need to tell me.....of course I start thinking negatively...and I started thinking something bad happened. No. She told me she asked K to walk away because she thought it would embarrass him. She said she over heard K speaking to Ava ( one of his friends at school). He said, " I'll be your Super Hero Ava!", as he protected her from the other kids. His teacher went on to tell me that I should be very proud, and that K is a very nice young man, and will make a woman very happy one day!

My heart just crumbled.

He had told me the day before that he was protecting a girl from some other kids at school. And that he was pretending to be a super hero to scare the other kids off. After speaking to his teacher, I asked him about Ava on the drive home. He told me, he was protecting her again today. In his own words:

" Don't worry Ava, I got this! I'll be your Super Hero!"

He's melting his Mama's heart.......
