The day after Thanksgiving .......

It's sad to hear that people are out shopping on Thanksgiving. The people that worked on Thanksgiving  have families that would like to see their faces around the dinner table. I wish people thought about that before they think about how much money they could save. Maybe retail stores will stop opening on Thanksgiving if no one goes out shopping? Think first, please don't shop on Thanksgiving!

Today my husband cooked a huge turkey for us! We will have turkey galore! Turkey sandwiches, turkey casseroles, turkey and gravy, turkey, turkey, turkey! Who doesn't love turkey left overs the day after Thanksgiving? We made our own turkey so we would have plenty of turkey to enjoy for the next couple of days, and we stuck some in the freezer!

This is the first time we've made our own turkey for left overs. While Daddy cut the turkey, K appeared several times for small pieces to snack on!

Yummmy Turkey Daddy!

We had turkey sandwiches for lunch!

Mommy made some chocolate chip cookies to snack on. They were almost all gone by the end of the day!

Daddy and K playing Super Mario Bros. on our Wii U !!! It was a fun day to just lay around, eat turkey, and enjoy each others company.

Happy Thanksgiving!

What am I thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day? I'm thankful for friends and family. I'm thankful that I get to spend this special holiday with family.

We spent our holiday at Grandma & Grandpa's. We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving feast and the company of our family. K especially enjoyed Grandma's deviled eggs this year. He had two!

Here is the delicious Zucchini Casserole recipe we had this year:

Goldie's Vegetable Casserole ( Verda Holm George):
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 pounds zucchini, sliced
1 clove garlic, pressed
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1 cup of shredded carrots
1 cup sour cream
1 (10.5 once) can of cream of chicken soup
1 ( 8-ounce) package stuffing mix
( Stove Top, chicken flavor mix)
1/4 cup ( 1/2 stick) butter, melted
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

In a large frying pan over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the zucchini, garlic, and green onion and cook until tender. Drain well. Add the carrots, sour cream, and soup to the vegetables and mix well. In a bowl, combine the stuffing mix and seasoning (which come with the mix) and melted butter.

Lightly oil a 9 by 13 inch casserole dish. Spread half of the stuffing mixture on the bottom of the casserole. Spoon the zucchini and carrot mixture on top. Sprinkle the rest of the stuffing mixture on top, and top with the cheese. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the vegetables are heated through.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner! Definitely going to make this casserole again!

Christmas pictures 2013

Today I  took Christmas pictures of K and his cousin. Yay!! We only got about 20 pictures, and these are the best out of those 20:

What cute little munchkins!

I wish I would have got more! But the boys had a blast, and that's what really counts.

Starting a new Christmas Tradition

We are so excited for Christmas this year! We have several activities planned, and I can't wait to enjoy and experience each and every one of them! It's time for my son to make the childhood memories that he will cherish for a lifetime. And, I'm so excited to watch him make those memories. Since my son is only two, it's the perfect time to create new Christmas traditions!!! I'm planning on taking full advantage of the fact that our family has just started and that we can enjoy the old traditions that have been passed down as well as create new traditions. I've been searching Pinterest for Christmas/ Holiday activities that would be good for toddlers, and found two that peeked my interest.

First,  a new Christmas tradition for our family!! For this activity I purchased a Christmas tree skirt from Target. I already had white acrylic paint and a paint brush. I had K dip his hands into the paint:

Then he placed his hands on the Christmas Tree skirt, to leave his hand prints:

I added the year and Voila! The beginning of a new family tradition! I thought this was a supper cute idea on Pinterest, and could not wait to have K do it!

While K had paint on his hands, we tried another Pinterest activity:

K got a little upset when he found out I was going to do most of the painting for this activity. So, we had to bust out his water colors to keep him busy too.

K's hand print on an ornament turned into snowmen! I want to have these forever, so I made two just in case one breaks.

Here is the tree skirt after it dried and was put under the tree:

These projects just put me in a Holiday, Eggnog, Disney movie, cookies just out of the oven kind of mood :)

Topher's 2nd Birthday Party

Today we went to Topher's 2nd Birthday Party :

The party theme was Monster's Inc. Above is a picture of Topher in his Sully hat.

The fun began when Topher's Mommy gave the boys a bunch of balloons to play with. They tried to get them away from each other. Then they tried to bonk each other with them. And soon it was all about the Mike Wazowski balloon:

Topher peeking over his cake box:

Happy Birthday Topher!
